Submission Rules*

1. All submissions must be your own original work, not copied or plagiarized from anywhere else. You can use other works as inspiration, but do your own work and let your own creativity shine through! It should be obvious this is a unique expression of you, your thoughts, and your handiwork, not a few changes to someone else’s work.

2. No profanity. If in doubt, take it out.

3. No slurs or derogatory statements against people or people groups. If in doubt, take it out.

4. You can talk about hard things (i.e if you were a crime victim and wrote a poem about it, you might have some harsh things to say about the person who hurt you). Try to keep it to statements of facts, and your own thoughts, feelings and experiences.

5. Don’t share anything about anyone who would be hurt or embarrassed by your words (again, you can talk about hard things that you have experienced, but no poems about what a pain in the butt your sister is or sharing your ex-friend’s deepest secrets!).

6. Make sure any people in your artwork have consented to be drawn or painted.

7. Submissions will be accepted only from girls who are under age 18 on or before the submission deadline.

8. Do not enter submissions on behalf of anyone else.

- We will use only your first name, last initial and country/state to identify you.

- This is not a competition. We want to celebrate your creativity!

- We will do our best to highlight every accepted submission in either a newsletter, blog post or social media post. Our hope is to highlight each accepted submission in all three channels! But it depends how many entries we get. If we get an overwhelming number of entries, we may have to include multiple entries in one newsletter, blog post or social media post.

- We do not guarantee that your submission will be published. We will notify you if we are not publishing your submission.

- Entries that are not in line with the rules will not be published.

- Harriet Turk and Just Be U reserve the right to reject any submission on any basis without explanation if we so choose.
